  1. How to start a graphic design business?
I’m 15 years old, and I have a talent for art and graphic design. I’m interested in starting a small business doing stuff like designing business cards, websites, flyers, etc. I’m wondering how to do this. What kind of stuff do I need? Thanks!

  2. Well, this is a pretty involved endeavor.

In order to do any kind of business legally you have to get a local business license, and I’m pretty sure that you must be over 18 years of age in order to get one. You also have to register your business through the state. Advertising is important to get your name out into the world. It’s also a good idea to create an artist’s contract so that you don’t get screwed by your clients.

It’s important to come up with a rate for your self. Depending on where you are and how decent your work is, I would suggest around $45/hour. You should also have a portfolio of your past work posted somewhere online accessible by all so that potential clients can view your work, otherwise they may not chose you.

That should get you started. There’s a lot to think about.

  3. how does a 16yr old start a web design Business?
i am 16 and i live in london, i want to start a business that designs websites for people cheaply. i want to get started but do not know how to start can you offer any advice

  4. I want to setup my own home business for graphic design?
Hi, I want to setup my own home business for graphic design. I am 15, but my legal guardian is 48, who will be accepting the money, as well as paying for things and legally checking. I want to setup my own private small business, for designing websites, banners, etc..etc… I am getting my own website soon. I was wondering if you have any ideas on how I can get my items out there and to the public? Or how I can setup a business that will allow me to distribute my products and things.

  5. Are 14 year olds allowed to design websites for money?
I am 14 years old, and me and my friend are considering starting our own mini business designing websites. Is this legal? Do we have to have some type of permit?

I’ve been doing graphic design for about 4 years now, so yes I know what I’m doing, and yes I am of legal working age. I was just wondering if there’s some kind of restriction in starting a business/online business.

  6. It doesn’t matter how old you are or where you live in the world. I literally work with web professionals from every corner of the world.

    1. If you don’t already know what you’re doing, you might want to get a hold of your CSS / XHTML skills over at: http://www.w3schools.com/ and maybe practice on your own free blog over at: http://www.wordpress.com/

    2. Then you need hosting and a domain.

    3. Then you need to design your portfolio website, you won’t have anything to show so just create logos and websites for fake/practice companies or you could work pron-bono (for free) while you’re leaning and building your portfolio.

    4. Provide SEO/Marketing for your website and apply for projects all over, http://www.craigslist.org/ for example. A good resource would be: http://www.seomoz.org/ for sharpening up on SEO/Marketing skills.

If you need a little extra help, go ahead and contact me and we can schedule a chat.

    Thanks, Bryan

  7. The best way to do it would be to try and make a few sites on some free webspace to show people how good you are at making websites and to prove that they are practical, professional and working websites and that they comply with w3 standards :

    http://www.w3schools.com

Once people see you can make sites and you advertise it on the free sites you make to show them and your prices are reasonable then you should be able to make money and as you get better you can charge more.

  8. Some kid helped get Brittney Spear’s career back on-track. I think he is 17… And, he was also smart.

Have you got a qualification, gone to TAFE or University yet ? or finished a short course with I.T or web design ?
There’s some coding involved with Java, HTML and other scripts…

And, I do not think there’s any restrictions. You should just need to advertise as an individual or a business.
Maybe, your parent’s can help you.
