  1. How can I design a website with a random quote or fact?
It is possible to have a button on a page that you click to see a random entry from a database (quote, fact or whatever)?
If so, can anyone help point me in the right direction to do it?
I’m a website-design novice so the more detail the better!
    Thanks!

  2. well, you have a few choices, the best (easiest) for this is JavaScript

Have an array of quotes, Pick a random number, and use it as an index to the array.

    you can learn javascript at:
    http://www.w3schools.com/js/default.asp

The next choice is setting up your own webserver or using a server that supports PHP, ASP.NET, JSP, Coldfusion, or some other serverside language and doing the same thing. The difference is you can write a front-end manager and not have to touch the code once you finished, but the main principle is the same. PHP is probably the easiest one since it has a better community to help. Check out php.net

  3. What’s the best web-design program that I can use to design a website?
I need to learn how to design a web-site. I am planning to start this as a hobby and if all goes well, maybe even start a side job as a web-designer. What type of program should I learn? Is Microsoft FrontPage still good to use or is it no longer up-to-speed with other leading web-designing programs.

What other types of programs are out there that will help me with website design. Do you think Macromedia is a good choice? I know it’s a bit steep in price but I figure if I am to invest the time to learn the ‘difficult’ program, time is money, why be shy on one and not the other.

What about Adobe? Do they have a web-designing software?

Please share your thoughts. I really need the help.

  4. I need help with my website design. Can i design them on my own or should I opt for a web designer?
I need help with my website design. I’m looking for logos.

  5. What is the difference between evaluation and conclusion for Website Design dissertation?
Hi, I am new to Yahoo Answers so bare with me.

I am writing a dissertation for University about building a website for educational purposes.

I am now at the stage of the ‘Evaluation’ and ‘Conclusion’.

I am not too sure what the difference between the two are, and which comes first. I do understand that the evaluation has to include points such as: Whether I felt the product meets its goals, What I found difficult and What I would do differently.

Any help would be highly appreciated. Thankyou in advance!

  6. To me (35 years in IT) evaluation would involve the appearance and performance of the website as well as the items you mentioned. You might also add “additional features that should be considered for the website” or “features/functions that should be deleted”, with your reasons for both categories. Conclusion would look at the project as a whole – whether it produced a good website for the effort expended and whether the experience of building it gave you additional insights into the world of website design and construction.
