Georgia Apple Festival 2011

The 2011 Apple Festival is held in Ellijay, Georgia on the Lions Club Fairgrounds on the weekend of October 8th and 9th as well as the weekend of October 15th and 16th. Each festival day starts at 9am with free parking and .00 admission (children under 10 free). The festival features 300 unique and distinct vendors ranging from Arts & Crafts to Food to Apple Growers to a Childrens Section to Community Service. The antique car show is featured on October 8th at the Civic Center, and the Apple Festival Parade is on October 15th at 10am.

So, why does Georgia celebrate apples anywayc In the early 1900s cotton was a large part of Georgias economy, but by the 1920s the boll weevil beetle arrived and practically ruined the cotton industry. Apple orchards saved the day for Georgia, and Gilmer County, by bolstering the economy. In the early 1970s, Georgia started celebrating the apple for saving the local economy during the hard times created by the loss of the cotton crops.

The 2011 Apple Festival is offered by The Villas at Coosawattee River Resort which is minutes from the festival and located in a beautiful gated resort. The resort has rates cheaper than a hotel or motel with one, two, and three bedroom units. Select from cabins, villa, and A-frame units, some of which feature hot tubs, lofts, river views, and mountain scenes.

The resort features amenities exclusive for The Villas’ guests and for all ages & interests including six breath-taking river parks, a state-of-the art fitness facility, three pools including a Junior Olympic indoor heated pool, sunning decks, tennis courts, river-side picnicking pavilions & camping with fire pits, fully stocked fishing pond, playgrounds, miniature golf, The Coosawattee Library, a dog park, the Teen Center for family fun, and so much more!

Come on out to Ellijay, Georgia this October and stay at The Villas at Coosawattee River Resort. Enjoy the resort with all its amenities as well as its close proximity to the Apple Festival. The Villas at Coosawattee has some super juicy specials for the Apple Festival and all of October so check out their website for all the details.

  1. Where can I get practice on Basic Website Design and Management?
I’m considering signing up for a certification program in Basic Website Design and Management. Courses and books cover programs such as Javascript, CSS, Dreamweaver CS3, etc. I don’t have the money to purchase programs like Dreamweaver right now.

What programs are available to me for tinkering for free? I want to purchase a book or two and work on these skills before I choose to sign up for the program. Any other suggestions, such as books to buy, are helpful as well.

  2. What is the best book to learn about website management? NOT DESIGN!?
I am looking for a book that explains about managing a website. I already paid developers to create a professional website and I have been kind of thrown into the role of managing the website and I am looking for the best books on how to manage a website successfully. I want to know what things I shouldbe doing on a monthly basis, how to keep up to date with new things on the web and good marketing strategies. Specific Book recomendations please, name and author, I would really appriciate it!!

  6. Domain names info: http://www.redesigns.org/domainnames.php
    Web hosting info: http://www.redesigns.org/webhosting.php

Your best option is to purchase Ultimate Web Builder at http://www.redesigns.org/web-builder .

Buy your domain name and web hosting there too, and then you get free installation services. The software has an easy Admin Panel, no programming experience necessary, and a user manual, plus it comes with free technical support. It has a TON of features, including unlimited pages, photos management, ads management, PayPal integration, SEO (search engine optimization), mailing list application, blog, and more!

  7. I maintain a page of links to client-side programming resources at:

    http://home.comcast.net/~richarduie/

There links to (free) tools, online learning resources and articles, books (not free, but they are the best of breed), related to CSS, XHTML, JavaScript, etc. – all the non-proprietary aspects of web-dev. Start there.

    No Dreamweaver (proprietary, commercial)
