Usefulness Of Website Designing In Business

Concept of web designing

As given in Wikipedia, web designing is the skill of creating presentations of web content (usually hypertext or hyper media) that is delivered to an end user through the World Wide Web by way of a web browser or other Web-enabled software like Internet Television clients, micro blogging clients and RSS readers. The intent of Web design is to create a website – a collection of electronic documents and applications that reside on a Web server/servers and present content and interactive features/interfaces to the end user in form of Web pages once requested. Such elements as text, bit mapped images (GIFs, JPEGs) and forms can be placed on the page using HTML/XHTML/XML tags.

There are countless companies in the market today, working as web designers for the sites of your company. While designing a website some points need to be considerably kept in mind as it is not an easy game to play.

Designing an efficient website for your company

There are two categories into which a website can be classified: Static and Dynamic. A static website is a simple layout whose content doesn’t change with every request unless manually updated whereas Dynamic pages adapt their display in accordance with the user’s interaction with the website. 1. What is a good website to design and order Tshirts, in the UK?
I’m looking for a good website where I would be able to put my own designs on Tshirts and order them/ receive them in the mail.

I’m looking for them to have good quality clothing, apt clothing-size-charts/ descriptions, based in the UK/ for the UK market as well as having decent prices.

Any suggestions? have you used them before?

  2. How much would your charge to design a website, uk money terms?
How much would you charge a person when creating a website

  3. What is a good university to study website design?
I am doing a diploma in IT at the moment, and I am now looking at university courses for next year. What are some of the good universities for studying website design in the UK? I am looking to do a honours degree or a foundation degree.

I am also looking for a university with good night life and student accomodation.
Thanks, but I am looking to do a website design degree, not a general computing science degree. I know you can do them at a few places.

  4. That depends very much on the type of the sites you want to develop.

Standard “brochure” sites are the cheapest. Some freelancers on sites like guru.com would charge as little as £15 per page on 5 to 10 page sites. For developers living in UK that simply isn’t a feasible rate.

When you go towards more complex sites, rates can go much higher. For a standard intranet project you can charge your time at slightly higher rates than what you would get on a contract job.

If you’re talking about a larger site with complex server side logic and usability/accessibility concerns for the front end etc., you can charge much higher rates. If your rate for this is still within 2 digits per hour, you’re way too cheap.

It all boils down to competition. Every man and his dog is a “Web developer” when it comes to small sites. It really isn’t that difficult (I know the number of broken web sites out there is probably proof to the contrary).

But when it comes to more complex projects the clients do look out for competent people, and they rarely go for the cheapest bid.

  5. If a US based company supplies website design to a customer in the UK, is the UK customer liable for VAT?
If the UK customer is liable for VAT, is the US company responsible to collect it?

  6. But if the company is trading in the UK – selling a product to a UK customer and paid by a UK resident then UK law will apply.
The internet has pushed this problem forward and you can expect new legislation soon.

  7. There are two parts to a website; the graphics and the things that you can do with the site. Two different skill sets and taught quite differently. Some people will claim to be able do both but they require different kinds of brain so it isn’t really possible.

To study graphic design you will need to go to Art school.

For the ‘parts that move’ you will read Computing at a regular uni. This will give you the skills to create the dynamic part of the website plus teach you many other important areas relating to websites such as security, databases, distributed processing etc.

  8. I’m based in the UK and recently got a website from Only Webdesign. They were really good, kept in contact with me at all points of the process and I ended up with a very good looking website I’m very happy with, at a fraction of the cost I was quoted by many other design companies.

    Their website is at http://www.onlywebdesign.co.uk
