  1. How much does it cost to remove a company logo/”designed by” from your website design?
A company designed a website for me and have “designed by. . .” at the bottom of the page. I feel this makes the website seem a little amateur, they’ve done other websites without putting this why mine? What’s the best way to go about having it removed?

    Will it cost?

  2. You may have copyright issues if you try to modify the page design. You may own the site, but the designer may own the layout.

If you don’t have a contract specifying who owns the rights, then it is practically automatic that the designer owns the copyrights and he can actually sue YOU if you attempt to modify it without his permission.

I can’t say for sure, but one of the reasons his “credit” is displayed on your site and not others is that you didn’t get charged as much as he charged those other sites. In other words, in exchange for a discount on the design, he gave himself some “advertisement” space.

By the way, designer’s credit is pretty common on websites, ESPECIALLY on sites that owners hire other designers to create.

  3. How can I add HTML to a website designed by a template??
I used iWeb to design my website. KNow how do I add HTML?? Is there a way? Like if I want to add a youtube video or something.. Thanks!
Oh Ok. Yeh I have iWeb 08. I know where it says widgets, I will look. Cool thanks!

  4. Who knows about law?I had a website designed by a company early last year. I recently learned how to…?
html code. So last month I added an interactive map to the site myself with clickable states and they are claiming that I violated the law by adding stuff to my own site. The contract never said I could not add a webpage to my own website… Is there something im missing? thank you.

  6. I agree that it depends on your exact requirements. If you, for example, just want to cause the logo to not be displayed then here’re a few ideas:

    1. If you can edit the page then simply remove the static HTML / control which displays the logo. In ASP.NET, for example, the logo is probably contained on the master page (.master).

    2. If you can’t edit the page but can either inject CSS or modify a CSS file then examine the output HTML (using Chrome – right click on the logo and select “Inspect Element”) and override the styling for the logo. Example:

    HTML:

    CSS:
    #logo { display:none;visiblity:hidden; }

This will, however, still result in the logo graphic being requested.

    3. Block the graphic image file from being sent to the client although this will result in the alt text being displayed (if an IMG element).

  7. im looking to get a website designed by an agency, how much would it cost?
how are the rates calculated? what’s standard fair?

  8. Well it depends what version of iWeb you have.
The newest version has an HTML Snippet option.
You go to web-widgets, then HTML snippet.
    and then insert the tag!

  9. Your question is too broad. It completely depends on the type of website and what you want to accomplish with it. It can range from a few hundred dollars for a simple informational site, to several thousand dollars for a product site with a shopping cart, etc. If you want flash and interactive functionality, it can be even more.

Here’s one good way to find out: Ask the designers you’re considering using. They won’t charge you anything to bid it. You might also consider using a freelance designer. There are some very talented folks out there who don’t charge as much as an agency.
